October 19, 2025・29th Sunday in Ordinary Time ( C )

Updated: Oct 16, 2025

Exodus 17.8-13・Psalm 121.3+4,5+6, 7+8・ 2 Timothy 3.14 - 4. 2・ Luke 18.1-8

Today`s readings not just simply tell us to pray, but to pray persistently and constantly. We may understand here that constant prayer can mean our daily and specific expression that we are truly connected with God. Prayer indeed comes in many different forms. We acknowledge God`s goodness in our daily life and His constant aid so we come to Him first and foremost in praise and thanksgiving. We pray individually in silence. We pray with others. We participate in the public worship of the Church such as Sunday Liturgy and many others. We do these things not just once or twice in our entire life. We are called to make prayer as our way of life (way of living). In patience, perseverance/persistence and constant prayer, we find that God in our many forms of battles and challenges, remains with us. It is just that sometimes, in our daily life experiences, we tend to forget to connect and forget the necessity to constantly connect because of many other concerns basically coming from different forms of fear, insecurities and worries, or coming simply from selfishness and self-centeredness.

We are called to be faithful to the scripture about Jesus. The scripture (the written Word of God, written and inspired by the Holy Spirit). It provides us wisdom, trains and teaches us how to live in this world courageously and with patience. The scripture tells us how we are being fully identified with Jesus, our Lord who once walked in this earth and who has mastered human tendencies based on both strengths and weaknesses. We are called to proclaim the Word of God with the similar courage and persistence.

May we able to increase our awareness on how God have been faithful in our favor. May we continue to see God`s wisdom in everything that happens around. However, in case, in God`s grace, we (come to) realize that we are indeed contributing a lot directly or indirectly to seemingly unpleasant surrounding nowadays (war, misunderstanding, hate, indifference, etc.), may we have a radical change of heart, and just be connected with Him all the time.
