2 Kings 5.14-17・Psalm 98.1,2+3a,4+5・ 2 Timothy 2.8-13・Luke 17.11-19
Today, we are going to reflect on the extent (vast) of God`s healing power in our lives. We put our trust and faith in God who heals (the Divine Healer) and purifies not only our frail human body but all aspects of our life. We are invited today to also reflect on how we respond to God`s healing power.
In our first reading we will see how Naaman after being healed of leprosy after obeying Elisha`s instruction was compelled to thanksgiving by offering a gift to Elisha. We may at the end realize that Naaman being healed from leprosy indeed experienced a deeper conversion by acknowledging from the heart the God of Israel and vowed to worship only Him. We too, must have a similar experience of healing and conversion of heart.
Our Gospel reading today in the same way emphasizes that experience of healing must bring us to deeper faith/ conversion of heart (returning to God), thus, must create a deeper relationship with Him. Jesus was looking for the other nine who were cleansed but only one returned to give thanks to God.
Finding ourselves returning and giving thanks after being healed, may we be able to extend to others too the healing power of Jesus. First of all, we all need to be cleansed, to be healed and to be made whole from the toxic or unbecoming (unsuitable) system destroying human relationships, and affecting how we see people and the rest of God`s creation around us.
