We celebrate today Jesus being made known to the world so we consider today's celebration as a feast of the Epiphany of our Lord. We remember today the visit of the Magi (the three wise men) who travelled from far away to find the new born Jesus. There was a mention of a star that they followed to find where Jesus was. The visit of the Magi symbolizes some things we can reflect upon. The Magi followed the light and they found joy, and offered gifts. The visit of the Magi often been attributed to the vast scope of God's love to all people regardless of origin and culture. It the reminds us that Jesus came for all people and anyone who seeks the truth can come to Him.
Our readings today particularly teaches us about the Light. This LIGHT” is shining from the darkness. We are somehow invited to follow the light, and like the Magi, find deep joy upon seeing the truth about Jesus’ Kingship, Priesthood and Divinity, and future suffering, sacrifice, and death for the humanity.
We continue to reflect on the mission of Christ and His invitation for each one of us too to spread the light.
